Mr. Mike

Michael, or Mikey to his high school pals, is one great teacher. The day our crew came into the school we all were impressed, although not surprised, at how engaging, inventive, and fun he was as a teacher. Jed and I agreed that we wished he was teaching our kids.

  1. The MAN! I didn't know about your struggles in elementary school Mikey. It's encouraging to know that kids (especially young boys) that are spastic/can't pay attention/hyperactive often turn out to be just fine if they are loved and find direction. Taliatha and I like to theorize that most of these "problem" boys would have been considered perfectly normal in the pre-industrial era where there was lots of work to be done with our hands that was highly valued and boys and men spent a lot of their time working outdoors.

  2. Awesome stuff...Michael's doing good work and I love seeing it highlighted. I loved what he had to say about confidence, right on spot. A kids confidence in their ability to do something is a better performance predictor than actual skill level. Dude, and the guy can jump off a chair into a glass a water!

  3. Love it! I'm getting all choked up, even on the 2nd viewing. You the man, Mikey. Great film work on Tony and Jed's end too. All these pieces are a lot of fun. I'm definitely showing them today in my documentary class.

  4. Yes! I've always wanted to see Mikey in the classroom--thanks! I kind of wish I could see about ten more hours of this. You seem like such an inspiring teacher, Mikey. I'd love to inspire kids the way you do.
